How To Choose The Best Marketing Strategy For You

All new online business owners are faced with a decision of choosing the best marketing strategy for them to get started. It may be a combination of a few different strategies that is the right combination for you. 

And then there are the others that have been marketing for a while, but are still not sure exactly what types of marketing they are best off concentrating on. For me it took me a long time to find my feet and decide on what I was going to do. 

I personally had the problem of trying a lot of different things at the same time, but not sticking with any of them. My bad habit was to try one thing and then quickly change course and try the next grand idea that popped into my head. All this did was mess my head up and sabotage my results. 

To maintain focus you should not be attempting any more than one or two marketing strategies at a time, and the strategies that you do choose should be given time before you give up and try the next thing. 

From my experience there are three simple questions that you need to ask yourself to discover the best marketing strategy that suits your own personality. 

1. What is my approximate marketing budget per month?

How much money are you prepared to spend on your business each month? The more money you spend on your business, the more likely you are to get results faster – but like anything there are no guarantees. 

Just throwing money at a pay per click campaign and hoping for the best is not going to work. It is easy to blow a large marketing budget and make no sales from it.

Your marketing budget will determine what type of strategies you can be targeting. The bigger your budget, the more choices and options you have.

A large marketing budget will enable you to consider things like pay per click, banner advertising or outsourcing. 

Having a zero dollar marketing budget will severely limit your choices to things such as content creation and social media, which use your time instead of your money. 

2. What are my best talents that I am really good at?

I am a firm believer in sticking to your strengths and forgetting your weaknesses. 

If you are good at analysing conversions and data, pay per click may be best for you. 

If you are confident and a good speaker, then video or podcasts may be your thing. 

If you are good at copy writing, then blogging or email marketing may be the right marketing strategy for you.

3. What am I really interested in?

There is no point studying something that bores you to tears, as your motivation will wear off before too long. Have a think of what strategies fascinate you and get you excited just thinking about them. 

Maybe there are no strategies that get you excited, but there must be some that interest you more than others. 

Think of it the reverse way. 

Which marketing strategies make you sick just thinking about them? Which strategies do you think would bore you to tears? 

At least now you will now what you definitely don't want to do.

In summary it will be a combination of answers of all three of these questions that will enable you to choose the best marketing strategy for you.

Just don't try to do too many things at once, and after you have made a firm decision make sure you stick with it for an extended period before giving up and trying someone else.
